Aerospace Studies 305R Honor Guard Class Description

1. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to train AFROTC cadets in precision Drill and Ceremonies with arms. The Honor Guard meets Monday through Thursday from 0600 to 0650. We will be focusing on preparing for the drill competitions we will be attending in the winter semester, most importantly the Southern California Invitational Drill Meet (SCIDM). This course is designed to instruct cadets in all aspects of Drill and Ceremonies, Customs and Courtesies, and military professionalism and then allow the cadets to perfect the skills learned by continuous practice. This course also provides a great training ground for cadets that are preparing for field training. In short, Honor Guard is a rigorous course that provides cadets with the training needed to become outstanding officers in the United States Air Force.

2. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Each cadet will become proficient in the following:

     a. Standard unarmed drill (marching)
     b. M-1 Garand rifle manual and advanced manual movements.
     c. Drilling a formation. Leading a flight.
     d. Inspection procedures and expectations.
     e. Uniform wear and Customs and Courtesies.
     f. All Warrior Knowledge.
In essence, each cadet will be expected to learn, develop and exhibit the highest of professional qualities that are required of Air Force officers.
