Select SOA Policies
- Computers. See http://marriottschool.byu.edu/management/laptop_requirements.cfm.
- Fall Orientation. Attendance at the SOA Fall Orientation is
REQUIRED for students entering the program. You must arrange your
schedule to attend the activities that will take place that day.
Details will be sent after admission to the program.
- Prerequisites and Course Sequencing. If post-registration
audits identify a student enrolled in a course without having met the
prerequisites, the student will be required to withdraw from that
course.
- Registration. The SOA will follow regular university
registration procedures. Important notices are periodically sent via
email to the email address that you provide through the on-line
application. It is your responsibility to notify the SOA of any change
in your email address.
- Retention Standards. Students must show satisfactory
progress in the SOA as measured by the retention standards identified
below. Students not meeting retention standards are subject to
discontinuance from the SOA. Students must:
- Show continuous registration at BYU (except internship) with at
least one program class during fall and winter semesters.
- Maintain at least a 2.50 GPA in all required courses. MAcc
students must maintain a 3.0.
- Submit a Bachelor/Masters Decision Form, available at http://marriottschool.byu.edu/studentfile/soais_itc/,
no later than the last business day in March the first winter
semester. (Students not completing the Bachelor/Master Decision Form
will be deemed to have chosen to graduate with a BS and not a MAcc.)
- Transfer Credit. Because of the uniqueness of the SOA
program, the core accounting classes (Acc 401-406) must be taken in
residence at BYU to qualify for the BS degree. Other transfer classes
must be approved by the Undergraduate Management Advisement Center, 460
TNRB, 801-422-4285.
