Students Launch into Mobile App Development

Ready. Aim. Launch hippopotamus. Hippo Blast, a game for iPhone in which the player shoots a cartoon hippo from a cannon to see how far it will go, won first place and $10,000 at the second annual Omniture iPhone App Competition, hosted by the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at the Marriott School of Management.

BYU Students Win North and South America Investment Competition
Team advances to global competition in Hong Kong Tuesday Mar 30 2010
Brigham Young University's basketball team may be out of the running for the NCAA finals, but there's still hope for one bracket of BYU students. This month a team of three MBAs and two undergraduates from BYU's Marriott School of Management won the Americas Investment Research Challenge, sponsored by the CFA Institute. The team will now represent the Americas region at the Global Investment Research Challenge in Hong Kong on April 17.

The wisdom of the ages sets forth two ways to make a donkey walk forward: hit its backside with a stick, or dangle a carrot in front of it. Consumer activists tend to use sticks, such as lawsuits, protests and boycotts, to persuade companies to be socially responsible. But as part of a new internship program, five students at Brigham Young University decided to experiment with carrots —mobs of them.

Money New Chair of Business Management

Marriott School of Management Dean Gary C. Cornia announced the appointment of R. Bruce Money, professor of marketing and international research, as chair of the Department of Business Management. He will assume the position beginning in July succeeding Michael Swenson, Ford professor of marketing.
