Spouses Luncheon
Food, friends, fun and family . . . what do these have in common? They were all part of the Spouses Luncheon
this fall at the Founder’s Conference! The event began with Sister Carolyn Ritchie’s presentation on her adventurous mission in
Africa. She shared touching stories and pictures of the faithful saints from more than seven countries on the beautiful continent.
Following Sister Ritchie’s remarks, Sister Lynda Sheffield shared a video, experiences, and testimony gained from
serving with her husband as mission presidents in the Jackson Mississippi Mission. They seemed to
have handled each challenge with faith and fun—to help missionaries stay fit, they allowed them to challenge President
and Sister Ritchie to a tennis match, or other sport of their choice! Continuing with the missionary spirit, letters were read from
two spouses who are currently serving missions: Colleen Earnshaw in Brazil, and Charlene Simcox in Russia. What wonderful examples
these sisters are to all of us!
After a scrumptious lunch of chef salad and peach cobbler, the event closed with a
presentation on the family by Professor Jim Harper from the College of Family Life. All were edified as the
importance of marriage and the family unit were reinforced and remembered. Thank you to Myreel Lynton for planning
such a wonderful event!
