Spouses Luncheon

Our Spouse Activity and Luncheon was a great opportunity for the women to talk about mother and grandmother things. The theme this year was Children’s Literature and it was an idea that really stirred the ladies. We started out with a book sharing activity, where each lady shared a book that they were interested in and told a little bit about it. This was a success and all the ladies left with new titles of books that they would be interested in. Before going into the luncheon we heard from Charlene Simcox about her wonderful mission to Russia with her husband. She had her friend from Russia there also who bore her testimony to us in Russian following Charlene’s comments. It was a neat experience.

We then had our wonderful luncheon and the ladies couldn’t stop talking about books and kids and Russia and it was so much fun. We then welcomed Gene Nelson, the head librarian at Provo City Library. He spoke to us about children’s literature and what kinds of books are right for certain ages. He also showed us some books that children love but also have some adult humor in them. He had the ladies laughing the whole time. When he was through the Center handed out a gift to each lady, the children’s book “Bark, George” which had been read by Gene Nelson earlier in his presentation. We are so grateful to Gene for coming to speak to the ladies, and we are grateful to Myreel Linton for all the planning she did for this activity.
