Comprehensive Research Tool Available To Students
Performing market research, tracking business trends, and calculating statistics used to be a task only Sherlock would take on. But now, a thorough database of e-business information is available to students and faculty through emarketer.byu.edu, a collaborative effort by the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology and BYU Business Library.
eMarketer is a comprehensive online database of e-business and online marketing statistics. Information from more than 3,000 different sources is compiled into daily reports, charts, and articles. It provides the most accurate and up-to-date information available in online business.
"As e-business becomes ever more prominent, both in internet companies and across every other industry, we've seen a sharp increase in students who need to research the e-commerce marketplace," says Andy Spackman, business management librarian at the Harold B. Lee Library. "Until now the library's marketing resources focused on more traditional markets. Students were left to sift through library databases for newspaper and magazine articles or struggle to find something relevant with Google."
eMarketer provides an easy way to perform necessary web business research. All data is complied into one place and is presented in an objective, easy-to-understand format. The use of eMarketer enables businesses to make more informed business decisions and helps students to find accurate research information for their tech entrepreneurship endeavors.
"eMarketer is vital to students who are coming up with web ideas," says John Richards, associate director for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology. "eMarketer can help students do early market research that will help to ascertain if there is a market for the idea, define what the product should be, and answer other questions that need to be answered when starting a new venture."
eMarketer also helps users understand current trends in the high-tech market, make sense of the growth and impact of the internet, and indentify how the new online media tools such as blogging, podcasting, and social networking are impacting today's web businesses. All of these resources are made available on eMarketer via video interviews, webinars, articles, reports, and charts that are all easy to use in research, papers, and presentations.
