Founder Highlight: Larry M. Gibson

Larry M. Gibson The Center for Entrepreneurship highlights Larry M. Gibson, a Founder since 1997 and chairman of the Founders, for his excellent service.

Gibson attended BYU and earned a BS degree in computer science and a MLS in library science. Gibson served as executive vice president and chief technology officer for Henry Schein, Inc., a Fortune 500 company. Gibson's company Dentrix merged with Henry Schein Corporation in 1997 and is now part of its technology division of which he was president for several years. Dentrix has been recognized twice in the top seventy of Inc. 500's fastest growing U.S. companies and in "Utah 100," a list of the state's fastest growing companies. Gibson was selected as "Entrepreneur of the Year" finalist for Utah in 1997.

He and his wife, Shirley, are the parents of six children and the proud grandparents of many grandchildren. His interests include scuba diving, skiing, motorcycling, and hot air ballooning; he'll participate in any activity that includes his sweetheart or grandchildren.

The Gibsons recently orchestrated a large service project, supplying humanitarian kits and clothing to Costa Ricans, while there for a Founders retreat.

"The motto of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology, 'Learn, Earn, Return' synthesizes my feelings about giving back to students and the university to help them have the same success I've enjoyed," he says.
