What is Net Impact?

Net Impact is an international club that connects and inspires a community of likeminded students, faculty and professionals who are committed to using their management skills to address social needs.

By virtue of being in the Marriott School, it is safe to assume you will have a positive impact on the organizations you ultimately work for. But what will your impact on the community and world be? Have you ever wondered how you could use your management skills to do more? Net Impact facilitates opportunities for you to do just that, which will help you excel both as a professional and a citizen. As a result, you will have a greater Net Impact on the world.

What does BYU's Net Impact chapter do?

Net Impact is your club. While there are some programs already in place, we are most excited about giving you a forum to address topics you are most passionate about. The following list highlights some of the programs and service opportunities throughout the year. If you are passionate about something else that fits Net Impact's mission, please let us know how we can help make it a reality. We invite you to get involved as much as you can! Our calendar can be found here.

Experiential Activities

Board Fellows Program: Place interested graduate students as non voting fellows on the board of directors for local nonprofits.

Small Business Mentorship Program: Provide simple mentoring opportunities to local entrepreneurs.

Service Opportunities

Marriott School Angel Tree: Collaborate with the Marriott School Angel Tree service opportunity each Christmas.

CSR Case Competition: Encourage involvement with various CSR Competitions held each year.

Ethics Case Competition: We encourage involvement with University of Arizona and University of Denver's Ethics Competition held each year.

Conferences

ESR Conference: We host events during the November Economic Self Reliance Conference to educate students on social entrepreneurship as well as give them an opportunity to meet leaders in the field in an intimate setting.

Net Impact National Conference: This conference provides an opportunity to network with recruiters from various companies, members from other schools and professional chapters, as well as national Net Impact leadership.

Other

Speakers: We expect a number of senior executives, including the VP of Sustainability for Frito Lay/PepsiCo, to visit us this year.

Site visits: Senior managers will give tours of their facilities and explain the CSR/Sustainability plans and accomplishments.
