5th Annual
October 9 - 11, 2008
|
|
Purpose: To unite BYU alumni and friends in our efforts to foster relevant and consequential
accounting research. In particular, the symposium will focus on giving current doctoral students
and new faculty a venue for presenting and receiving feedback on their research and research ideas.
The program will include several research presentation sessions in which participants (especially
doctoral students and new faculty) will present papers or proposals for research. In each session
we will encourage and allocate sufficient time for constructive audience participation and feedback.
In addition, we are planning panel discussions, keynote speakers, and optional activities such as
attendance at a BYU home football game.
Because one of the primary purposes of this symposium is to help doctoral students and new faculty
establish their research, we encourage submission of early working papers and even preliminary research
proposals. Some of the sessions will be geared specifically toward proposal presentations; in these
sessions, we will allocate less time for the presentation and more time for audience feedback to help
the presenter develop their proposed research.
