Ask the President
BYU President Cecil O. Samuelson will join NAC members for a question-and-answer session on
Friday morning in rooms W408-W410 (Assembly Room) of the Tanner Building. This is a great
opportunity to get a broad view of what's happening at the university as well as to learn more
about how the Marriott School and NAC fit within the larger framework.
Learn about the Church and New Media
Hear from managing directors of church departments directly involved with new media channels such as YouTube, Facebook,
and Twitter. Find out how these new technologies are being used by the church to find new audiences and share its message.
Hear from Coach Mendenhall
BYU Football Coach Bronco Mendenhall will make a rare in-season appearance to speak to
NAC members on Friday at the NAC/faculty lunch in W408-W410 Tanner Building. Don't miss this
unique opportunity to hear from the coach. And don't miss the BYU vs. Air Force game on
Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in LaVell Edwards Stadium.
New Business Ethics Case
New to the conference this year is a hands-on business ethics case study. Students will
have an opportunity to meet in small groups with NAC members to analyze a brief ethics case.
The groups will be given tools to explore the ethical dilemmas presented in the case and discuss
options to resolve the situations. A half-dozen of the school's top faculty will then direct
case discussions as the groups reassemble in classrooms. The ethics case exercise will take
about two hours on Friday morning–this includes a briefing, group analysis, and faculty-led
discussions. This could very well be one of the highlights of the conference.

Steve Reinemund to Receive 2009 IEY Award
The Marriott School will honor Steve Reinemund, dean of the business school at Wake
Forest University and former PepsiCo CEO, with the 2009 IEY award at a special reception
and dinner Friday night.
In 1984 Reinemund joined PepsiCo's Pizza Hut division as senior vice president of operations.
Shortly thereafter he was named president & CEO of Pizza Hut North America. In 1992 he became
president of PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division. And in 2001 the board of PepsiCo named Reinemund
chairman & CEO.
Those who've worked with Reinemund describe him as a man of impeccable character and honesty.
He is a man of faith and has been supportive of BYU. He is also a former captain in the United
States Marine Corps. Reinemund graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and earned an MBA from the
University of Virginia. He is currently directing a strategic realignment at Wake Forest–combining
the graduate and undergraduate business schools into one unit similar to the Marriott School.
Share your Experience with Both Graduates and Undergraduates
The conference begins with graduate student mentoring on Thursday evening. NAC members and
graduate students and their spouses will gather in the Tanner Addition atriums for a networking
dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by topic-specific mentoring panels in the new case rooms. The tapas
dinner will provide a wide variety of different foods as you mingle and meet with some
of the school's best and brightest.
On Friday afternoon you may also have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate students. If your
NAC committee has elected to meet for one hour instead of two, then you may be asked to participate
in undergraduate student mentoring guided by the NAC Mentoring Committee.
