“Conducting Client Assessment Research: A look into FINCA’s E-methodology”

Presentation Abstract:
This presentation will highlight FINCA's recent research in, and development of, electronic client assessment tools. Specifically it will describe the various poverty and impact indicators, demonstrate how the interviews are conducted using hand-held computer technology, and review FINCA's plans to institutionalize the client assessment methodology throughout its network.

Biography: Patrick Crompton began his professional career with FINCA International nearly two years ago as a research assistant to John Hatch, Founder of FINCA and Director of Research. Most recently, he coordinated FINCA's client and poverty assessment initiative, carried out in 11 of their country programs, and personally conducted interviews in Uganda and Ecuador. Currently, Patrick is the Research Coordinator for FINCA International and is organizing the client assessment research in FINCA's last 7 country programs. He is also coordinating the pilot testing of FINCA's Social Performance Measurement and Management System, which will be implemented in Ecuador, Uganda and Kyrgyzstan. Patrick graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota in International Relations, and Spanish & Portuguese. He has lived and worked in Ecuador and Brazil and is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.
