Required Preparation Courses and Proficiency Exams

All admitted EMBA students for the Provo Class of 2013 are required to pass basic preparation courses in Accounting and Statistics. EMBA programs have contracted with Harvard Business School (HBS) to provide these courses to all admitted students. These are online courses that cover entry level information for Financial Accounting and Quantitative Methods (Statistics). The HBS courses will be paid for by the EMBA program. Admitted students will be given access to the HBS materials as soon as a program deposit is paid. Courses will need to be completed by July 1, 2011.

  • The proficiency exams are a Pass/Fail grading system. The Pass/Fail threshold is set at 75%.
  • There are three proficiency exams in both courses. You are only required to pass one of the three exams. You can start with the pretest and if you pass with the 75% requirement, you are done. Continue to review the course material before taking the other two exams.
  • The question has been asked, "What happens if I am unsuccessful at passing all three tests?" If that happens, please contact the MBA office and we can clear the test results so you can try again.
