Christmas Holly

Holly, with its bright green leaves and bright red berries, was revered by ancient people as a symbol of eternal life. A German legend claims that before the crucifixion the plant bore white berries, afterward its berries were blood red.
Decorate your favorite cookies, cake, brownies, or breads with little red hot candies. Add a green leaf with a cake decorator, or green gumdrops dipped in sugar and rolled thin then shaped like a leaf.
Leaves can also be made from cream cheese mints that are tinted green.
Cream Cheese Mints
8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
2 lbs. powdered sugar
flavoring and coloring as desired
Mix with a mixer until stiff, adding powdered sugar a little at a time. When it is stiff, knead with your hands. Shape as desired.
May also be used for centers of chocolates or you may add nuts, etc. Makes a good wedding mint, also.
