Curriculum

The EMPA course schedule is structured in a way intended to support balance in a student’s life. The class, travel, and study time require between 15 and 20 hours a week.

Each entering class meets on a different night of the week. The schedule for the entering classes of 2009, 2010, and 2011 are listed below.

Entering class of 2009 will meet on Wednesday night.
Entering class of 2010 will meet on Thursday night.
Entering class of 2011 will meet on Tuesday night.

EMPA classes are held fall and winter semesters and spring term for three years. Classes are not held summer term. New student orientation is held every year the week before fall semester begins. This three-night orientation includes team building activities, a dinner, and a leadership assessment.

All classes are held at the BYU Salt Lake Center.

An important part of the EMPA experience is group work. Groups form initially around what works geographically and will change as needed throughout the program.
