Nineteen sixty-six was an amazing year. The Miranda warning—“You have the right to remain silent”—was established by the Supreme Court. The Beatles performed their last concert in San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. The TV series Star Trek debuted with Captain Kirk, Spock, and the crew of the Starship Enterprise. Ronald Reagan was elected governor of California. And on 7 October, more than twenty individuals attended the inaugural meeting of the BYU National Advisory Council (NAC) in Provo, UT. The next day the Cougar football team thumped Utah State 27-7!
It is amazing how much can happen in fifty years. For the last five decades, NAC leaders have worked, hand in hand with Marriott School administrators and faculty, to serve our students. Come celebrate the legacy, impact, and vision of the NAC with us at the 2016 NAC Fall Conference 50th Anniversary Gala on Friday, 16 September.
