Throughout his career, Taylor kept a photo of his grandfather, David Harold Peery, perched on his dresser.
His grandfather was a leading Utah banker respected for his business ideals and hard work. As a young man,
Taylor came to understand the importance of these attributes. As his career progressed, it became clear that
Taylor had inherited many of his grandfather’s talents, including a keen sense for investing and the ability
to act quickly and wisely.
Taylor passed his business sense on to his children. Quick to offer advice, Taylor taught them to stay out of
debt and consider long-term factors when making investments. Through the institute, Taylor’s children are helping
to pass on his business sense and ideals to students. The H. Taylor Peery Institute of Financial Services serves
as an intermediary between students and financial service professionals-forming active partnerships with financial
leaders and bringing students one step closer to the industry.
H. Taylor Peery was an attentive businessman and financial genius. During his career of thirty-four years, he rose
to the top ranks of the worldwide Bank of America, helped expand Allied Properties, and started a real estate company
that helped build today’s Silicon Valley. Taylor earned renown for his keen investing sense, his ability to act
quickly and wisely, and his negotiation skills-qualities the institute hopes to instill within students.
"Grasp life by learning all you can."
