Where would I fit best?

At this point, you want to be completely honest about what careers genuinely interest you. It’s so easy to choose what everyone else is doing or what is most often on the cover of The Wall Street Journal. However, you will find the greatest success in a position that maximizes your strengths, minimizes your weaknesses, and brings excitement to you everyday. When you put this many hours into a job, no prestige can compensate for unhappiness.

Where do I fit in?

Choosing a firm is very important too. While many junior positions are similar in description, you will find differences in culture and people. Almost every advisor stresses the importance of enjoying those you work with. If you really like the people, those long hours pass much faster and you will find many friends and advocates at the end of your experience. Don’t be afraid to set up lunches or informational interviews to find out what firms and groups may fit best. This takes us to our next point—networking.
