School of Accountancy
The School of Accountancy prepares students for careers as professional accountant in industry, government, public accounting, and consulting. Students enter the accounting program through the Accounting Junior Core; an integrated 24 credit hour curriculum focusing on financial, managerial, tax, information systems, and auditing concepts integrated with training on communication, group work, leadership, ethics, critical thinking, and professionalism.
Students continuing on into the MAcc program take a core of general business classes and choose to specialize in either taxation or professional services. Those focusing on taxation receive specialized training with such courses as tax research, federal tax, corporate tax, tax planning, and local tax. Students focusing on professional services take specialized courses such as accounting research, auditing, advance financial, and financial statement analysis.
