East meets West on this four-week marketing and business strategy excursion to Europe (France, England, Scandanvia), Russia, China, and Thailand. You will literally circle the globe as we visit the world’s most advanced and fastest-growing markets. Students will have an opportunity to learn from marketing and strategy professionals working with multinational organizations as well as niche emerging brands. Learn about effective product pricing, product positioning, brand development, successful international campaigns, and general business strategies.
This study abroad is guided by a BYU marketing professor and expert in the international marketing field. Visits to important locations of cultural and historical significance support academic content. Students will gain an on-the-ground understanding of global marketing practices and culture around the world as well as a competitive base of experience that includes a broadened global perspective and awareness.
This program is designed for undergraduate business majors with an emphasis in marketing. The program is also ideal for other business majors and business minors, as well as communications majors. .

This program will fulfill course and foreign experience requirements for the Global Management Certificate offered by the Marriott School.
Program Director
Dr. Bruce Money is professor of marketing and international business and was awarded the Marriott School’s outstanding teacher award in 2007. He has directed 6 BYU study abroad programs. Dr. Money’s research and teaching focus on internatioanl marketing and negotiations. He received a PhD in marketing from the University of California, Irvine, an MBA from the Harvard Business School, and a bachelor’s degree in English from BYU. Dr. Money has conducted over 50 executive education seminars for some of the world’s leading companies, including Bayer, Bosch, CSX, Fuji Film, and Nissan.
Preparation for Study Abroad
All students who are accepted into the program are expected to register for a one credit, pre-departure preparation class held Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m. during the second block of Winter semester 2012. Part-time BYU student and non-BYU student will need to pay an additional tuition fee of approximately $250. |

Where do Students Live?
Students will stay in hotels or hostels. All housing and travel will be arranged by BYU International Study Programs.
What Funding Sources are Available?

Regular BYU tuition scholarships, Pell grants, and Federal Insured Student Loans may be applied to Business Study Abroad Programs.

Students who submit the financial aid section of the International Study Programs (ISP) application and who have a current FAFSA form on file at the Financial Aid Office will be considered for a study abroad scholarship awarded through the Kennedy Center.

Private grants and scholarships outside of BYU may assist: kennedy.byu.edu/isp.

Students from all majors on campus may apply; however, preference is given to business majors and minors.

ISP and the GMC reserve the right to cancel this program, revise its offerings, or make any adjustments to the preliminary cost estimates due to conditions beyond its control.
How Much Does This Study Abroad Cost?
tudents need to pay the $25 ISP application fee. After acceptance into the program, students will be expected to pay an estimated $6,300–$6,500 program fee. BYU requires each student leaving campus to get HTH Worldwide health insurance, however this fee is included in the program fee. Tuition, airfare, group tours, accommodations, medical insurance, and approximately one-third of all meals are included in the program fee. Students are responsible for remaining meals and any personal expenses such as souvenirs, public transportation, museums, theatres, and other attractions.
