Welcome to the Student Exchange Program!
Pick your future. Pack your bags.
Overview
In today's society it is vital to think global. Studying in an international environment is a great way to internationalize yourself. The Student Exchange Program (SEP), run through the Whitmore Global Management Center, is a global living and learning opportunity at universities throughout the world. By choosing to participate in a Student Exchange Program you will strengthen your education and learn about yourself. Participating in the Student Exchange Program will help you experience personal growth, increase your global awareness, enhance your academic learning, develop your leadership skills, advance your career, and learn or strengthen a second language.
The Global Management Center and the Kennedy Center at Brigham Young University are dedicated to providing all BYU students with high quality international academic opportunities that allow them to develop knowledge and skills needed to become productive and successful members of the global community. In partnership with the Marriott School of Management departments, faculty, and staff, we seek to increase awareness of education abroad opportunities, to promote intercultural learning, and to advocate for diversity in participants and programs.
The Global Management Center is working to create partnerships with colleges and universities throughout the world. Currently the Marriott School of Management has established partnerships with schools in China, Mexico, and Brazil. Students apply for participation through the Kennedy Center's International Studies Program and the Global Management Center. The students pays normal tuition to BYU and is ensured that all pre-approved classes taken will transfer back to BYU.
Contact and Questions
Most of your general questions about SEP can be answered by information on this website. The specifics of how the program works can be addressed by Sherstin Creamer in the Global Management Center (360 TNRB).
You will work directly with the Student Exchange Program (SEP) coordinator through the application, placement and pre-departure processes. You apply through the Kennedy Center website. Placements are accepted at host campuses on a space-available basis. The SEP coordinator will give you campus-specific, written requirements regarding eligibility, application, financial aid, placement, post-placement, academic advising, and other procedures appropriate. Following acceptance you will work with BYU's SEP coordinator and the host campus SEP coordinator. You will receive written instructions for timely follow-through regarding housing, registration, enrollment, and payment.
One of the early exchange participants called SEP a "…mind stretcher in terms of both academic and personal experiences." He said it was "...an opportunity to refresh your whole life in a new environment and see wonders about yourself and others. It’s what life should be – a continuum of new and fresh learning, deepening appreciations, and widening horizons."
