WTA Scholarship

World Trade Association of Utah

The Mission of the World Trade Association of Utah is to assemble a group of professional people in Utah to promote networking and to expand international trade and commerce.

As a non-profit organization of individuals, corporations, government, academic institutions, and others, the World Trade Association of Utah is a center for a common interest in promoting international commerce. WTA provides a forum for exchange of ideas and information through a schedule of monthly luncheons, speakers, seminars, workshops, publications, and special events to strengthen the knowledge and value of the global association.

WTA sponsors an annual golf tournament in June. The profits from the golf tournament help provide scholarships to students interested in and committed to international business and who are enrolled in a college or university located in the Wasatch region. The scholarships recipients are awarded in a ceremony during the WTA Annual Gala.

WTA Scholarship

The objective of the WTA Scholarship program is to provide financial support to undergraduate business majors who have a strong interest in and commitment to international business. All undergraduate business majors enrolled in the Global Management Certificate program are eligible to apply for the WTA Scholarship. The factors that the committee will consider during the selection process are:

• Academic standing in the undergraduate program (GPA).
• Second language fluency.
• Registration for the Global Management Certificate, which is the highest level of international business academic qualification for our students.
• Desire to pursue a career in business with a focus in international business.

Application Process

Students are requested to submit an application to be selected as a WTA Scholarship recipient. The application process involves an application form, ABC report and a letter of intent explaining why they feel they should be considered to receive the funding and how they feel they meet the criteria established for the funding.

The application packet should be submitted to the Kay and Yvonne Whitmore Global Management Center by the deadline listed under Important Dates below. Incomplete applications will not be considered in the selection process. Application material submitted after the deadline will not be considered in the selection process.

Applications will be reviewed by the committee. Once the final selection is made, the WTA Scholarship recipients will be announced.

WTA Scholarship Amount

Students will be awarded $500.
