Financial Commitment

CIS students are eligible to receive scholarship to cover health insurance, textbooks, and tuition as well as loans to cover rest, food, and utility expenses based on need. All other expenses should be covered by students’ savings, family support, and/or employment. As a condition of the program, students must have at least $2,000 to cover personal expenses during the first year of studies at the Marriott School of Management. Please review your finances carefully and plan accordingly to meet the following criteria:

  • Include at least $2,000 savings and personal resources in your I-1 form and record these funds under the financial support for your first year of studies. The I-1 form is part of the graduate school application that is used to prove finances.

  • Make the funds in your personal bank account available by September 1 of the year you start the BYU MSM graduate program.

  • Bring additional funds with you to cover any other expenses during August 2005

Automobiles are very costly and therefore students are discouraged from purchasing cars. Cars require maintenance and living expense loans are not to be used to cover these expenses. Public transportation is available at low cost to BYU students. Students should consider this resource as they budget their finances. Students are encouraged to use their savings as their primary source of financial support during their studies at BYU in addition to CIS scholarship and loans.
