As you contemplate furthering your education toward a master's degree in business, we suggest that you chart your financial picture. In the past, we have seen some students bring significant financial responsibilities with them to the MBA Program that have restricted their ability to focus first and foremost on the program. Deferring the graduate degree to a later date when those money problems abated would have helped solve unforeseen problems.

If you are planning on applying for financial aid to help cover your educational costs, we strongly encourage you to find out how much financial aid is available to you. Visit BYU's Financial Aid web site for information. There are limitations as to how much financial aid you will be able to receive and it is your responsibility to understand those limitations. Financial aid is limited to funding for just the student and is meant to be a supplement to your best effort of funding your education. Again, being married and having children does not factor in to the amount of financial aid for which you may be eligible. Once you have visited the web site, you can make an appointment to visit with a financial aid counselor if you have any concerns or questions.

MBA Program scholarships for first-year students are awarded once the class is confirmed in June. These scholarships average $2,500. No application is necessary; all entering students are automatically considered. Program scholarship awards are based on a combination of GMAT score, work experience, and GPA.

Your plans for returning to school to obtain your MBA degree will be much smoother if your financial needs are settled before you come. We encourage you to do your research ahead of time so you will be financially prepared for the MBA Program.
