MBA Community: Students

The Things that Make a Great Business Make a Great Business School

BYU MBA students begin their first day with excited apprehension. They are usually proud of being accepted to a top-tier business school but intimidated by the other 179 individuals that were also accepted. What they do not know is that the roomful of strangers will become lifelong friends over the next two years.

Students in the BYU MBA Program enjoy a camaraderie that is unique to BYU. They embrace the concept of a fellowship over that of a network. When people talk about networking, they usually ask, “What can the network do for me?” A fellowship revolves around the question, “What can I do to help those around me?” BYU MBA students consistently and inherently look for ways to serve one another.

BYU MBA Culture of Work and Play

BYU MBA students also have a lot of fun. Tanner Thursdays, tailgating, ping pong and foosball tournaments, the Winter Social, BYU-Utah MBA Flag Football, Intramural sports teams, and many other great activities and events create a feeling of friendship among students.

Family First

One of the biggest draws for married students is the family-friendly atmosphere. The BYU MBA Spouse Association is the network of the spouses of our students. It helps the families of our students feel at home in Provo by being part of an automatic group of friends and supporters of people who are going through the same experience. It also provides a great network of former MBASA members around the world who help families find the best places to live when a new internship or job comes.

Living in Provo

Another factor in the MBA decision process is the location of the degree. Provo, Utah is consistently rated as one of the best places to raise a family mainly because of its low cost of living and low crime rate. It is also an amazing city that is close to many outdoor activities like skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and waterskiing. There are many museums, theaters, and other cultural events that take place on a weekly basis. Additionally, the restaurant scene has many Utah-based restaurants that are affordable and delicious.
