Ethics

The Marriott School at Brigham Young University is here to attract, develop, and place men and women of faith, character, and professional ability who will become outstanding leaders capable of dealing with change in a global environment. In a world where business behavior is becoming increasingly more fraudulent and unethical, we strive to maintain an atmosphere of consistent and uncompromising ethical standards. This atmosphere is created and preserved through commitment to the kind of conduct that reflects ethical ideas and principles. All members of the BYU family—faculty, administrators, staff, and students—agree to maintain the highest standards of honor, integrity, and morality. They strive to follow the example of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Individuals who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are expected to maintain the same standards of conduct.

BYU students further commit to be honest in all their dealings. All work must be their own unless specified. Students must avoid academic dishonesty in all its forms, including—but not limited to plagiarism, falsification, and cheating. A complete description of the BYU Honor Code all students must sign is found at www.honorcode.byu.edu.

With the Marriott School's high emphasis on ethics and integrity, we are recognized by recruiters around the world as one of the best places to hire graduates with high ethical standards. Our MBA program has been named by the Wall Street Journal as second in the ranking of MBA programs with an emphasis on ethics. Supporting David O. McKay's teaching that character is the highest aim of education, Marriott School professors recognize the importance of character in becoming a trusted leader. The combination of strong moral values and essential management skills helps BYU graduates stay in high demand and conduct business with integrity.
