On Harshýs pre-MBA experienceý

I worked with IBM Global Services in India and Ireland for five years and interned with Tata Elxsi in India for 24 weeks during my undergraduate studies. My experience at IBM focused on project and people management helped me understand business dynamics. The versatile outlook that I gained during my association steered me towards formal business education. My refined career goals provided me with a good reason to reach the top by undertaking an MBA from a renowned university.

On choosing to get an MBA at BYUý

My primary reason for coming back to school was to get exposure to business management, gain in-depth understanding of marketing and strategy and build a strong network of like-minded people. Also, I realized during my experience with IBM that an MBA is catalytic in progressing toward a leadership position. I decided to pursue an MBA after getting relevant professional experience.

Besides BYU, I also considered attending UC Berkeley, UCLA and UC Irvine. I chose BYU because it has a good mix of quality education, high ethics and low tuition. Additionally, the BYU MBA program is one of the most family-friendly programs in the United States, providing me with an opportunity to balance my academic and personal life appropriately.

On the BYU experienceý

In my interactions with professors, I have found them to be highly qualified, helpful, kind and accommodating to the needs of students. Additionally, I like the class mix as well as the equally helpful and diverse peer group. I believe that BYU ý due to its unique culture and focus on ethics ý provides an opportunity to improve oneýs personality and a platform to become a better professional that is well-respected in corporate America.

I really like the teaching methodologies BYU professors use in the classroom, including the case method, which provides a ýlearning by doingý experience. Along these lines, I enjoy the group interaction as a preview of the post-MBA professional world, and I am looking forward to getting more involved in club activities in the second semester of the program.

The first semester, I received great exposure to the job opportunities available for MBA students through interaction with first- and second-year MBA students and have made some good friends within the program. I appreciate that BYU provides a lot of opportunities to network and interact with other students, which is helpful in building strong long-term relationships.
