August: "Pathways to NYC" Open House Who is this event for?: This event is designed for all college and graduate students, recent grads, and anyone else interested in professional opportunities in New York City. We want to introduce you to the people, companies, and other aspects of NYC and area that make this a great place to live and work. What do I get for my registration fee?: The fee will cover registration, NYC materials (guidebook, etc), the social on Thursday night, and the closing dinner on Friday night. Is there housing available or will I have to find my own?: We're also working to arrange as much in the way of free housing with members in NYC as we can. We'll let you know when a limited number of housing slots become available, which will be made first-come, first-served to the people who sign-up earliest. What will I need to cover out of my own pocket?: Most people will need to cover housing, in addition to most meals and the flight, plus any other personal expenses you incur. Tuesday, October 11, 2005: The Many Lives of Joseph Smith This is a special lecture presented by Professor Richard L. Bushman, a renowned LDS Church historian, New York Stake patriarch, and Gouverneur Morris Professor of History Emeritus at Columbia University. This lecture coincides with the release of Brother Bushman's new biography "Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling" published by Alfred Knopf.
Place: Princeton-Columbia Club, 15 West 43rd Street, New York No R.S.V.P. is required, but this is another terrific event to invite your non-LDS friend to. Refreshments will be served. Randy's Bio: Randy Guynn currently serves as co-head of Davis, Polk, & Wardwell's Financial Institutions Group. He focuses on M&A and capital markets transactions by banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions. Mr. Guynn has also been active in advising the firm's clients on bank regulatory matters and cross-border collateral transactions, securities settlement and payment systems. He graduated from BYU in 1981 with an Economics degree, and he received his JD from the University of Virginia - Charlottesville. Previously, he was a Fixed Income sales manager at PaineWebber and a Fixed Income portfolio manager at TSA Capital Management.
