A new BYU study found that individuals who had the healthiest identity development also had high levels of family history knowledge.

As a mom of four, Liz Mumford knows her way around the school system. Beginning with the fall 2022 semester, BYU Marriott students graduating from the School of Accountancy undergraduate and graduate programs will receive a STEM designation with their degree.

Rosemary O’Leary, a renowned researcher and professor in the public management field, received the 2023 Gary C. Cornia Lecture Series Award from the Romney Institute of Public Service and Ethics at the BYU Marriott School of Business. O’Leary, who has written 13 books and more than 135 articles on public management, presented her work on ethics and guerilla government at the award luncheon.

New research published this week from BYU Marriott School of Business professors Jeff Dyer and Taeya Howell finds that innovation can be hampered when organizations prioritize “psychological safety” at the expense of intellectual honesty.

The BYU Marriott School of Business held its annual Healthcare Industry Network Conference during the fall 2022 semester. The conference focused on transformational leadership in the healthcare field with an underlying message of learning from the master healer, Jesus Christ.

This program helped Shaw, now a senior, find her niche in the field and lace up her shoes for a fashion internship in New York City.

In December 2022, BYU Marriott alum Scott Adams retired as CEO of Pullman Regional Hospital in Washington state. Reflecting on 30 years of dedicated service, Adams recalls the opportunities that he had to unite and improve the Pullman community. Adams’s efforts to create an inclusive, people-centered culture in the hospital had rippling effects that will be felt in Pullman for many years to come.

The BYU Marriott School of Business welcomed the international Experience Research Society (EXPRESSO) for its third annual Seven Experiences Summit in the fall 2022 semester. More than 100 people from eight different countries attended the society’s first in-person event.

When she was in fourth grade, Michaela Horn wanted to run for class president. So when the sign-up sheet landed on her desk, she wrote her name down. Then she noticed the name of another student also running for president, and doubting herself, Horn erased her name off the list. Now an experience and design management (ExDM) student and the program’s student association team lead, Horn is grateful for the confidence and empowerment she has gained since the fourth grade to follow her aspirations.

David Wilson loves getting to the heart of things, whether he's breaking down complicated ideas in the classroom or busting down walls to renovate his house. He is overjoyed to be a new professor at the BYU Marriott School of Business in the Department of Information Systems (IS).

From completing junior core projects together to sharing a one-bedroom apartment in New York City with two other girls and a Great Dane, Sara Sparhawk and Lyn Johnson have been through a lot together. Since graduating from the BYU Marriott School of Business, they have become cofounders of West Tenth, an online platform that enables women to easily market and sell their home-grown talents and skills. These 2004 School of Accountancy (SOA) graduates find joy in bringing entrepreneurial opportunities to women everywhere through their unique business model.

While it may seem risky to turn down a great job offer or leave graduate school early, Brian Hill doesn’t harbor any regrets. His drive to improve others’ lives has led him to start his own company, Edovo, with the sole purpose of helping those who are looking for a second chance—a passion he discovered through the Ballard Center for Social Impact at the BYU Marriott School of Business.

During Kate Toronto’s first day of classes at the BYU Marriott School of Business, she watched in awe as Marcy Fetzer taught a class on human resources. Toronto says that was the first time she saw a woman with a PhD teaching at the university—growing her family and her career at the same time.

Chris Coombs enjoys charting his own course. After working for politicians in Utah and studying theology in Boston, Coombs followed his intuition to the MPA program at the BYU Marriott School of Business.

BYU Marriott School of Business and Brigham Young University honored Herman E. Bulls with its 2022 International Executive of the Year Award. Bulls is a vice chairman, Americas, for JLL, and is also an international director, founder, and former chair and CEO of the firm's highly acclaimed Public Institutions business unit. 

Eight students representing BYU Marriott at the fall 2022 MarketStar case competition began preparing long before the annual event kicked off. Preparation for these two teams started in the classroom and continued until seconds before they faced the judges.

William Livingston, an MPA student, has been named the 2022 Buckwalter Internship Award recipient by the Romney Institute of Public Service and Ethics. Livingston received official recognition, along with the $1,500 award, during the program's Alumni of the Year dinner on November 10, 2022.

Two years ago, Isaac Briganti had no idea what to major in. Now, thanks to the global supply chain management (GSCM) program at the BYU Marriott School of Business, Briganti has impressive internship experience under his belt and a job waiting for him at global industrial company Grainger.
