BYU Grad Wins Global Entrepreneurship Competition

PROVO, Utah – Dec 20, 2012 – Brigham Young University’s 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year, Brad Moss, reached another business milestone when his company, React Games, won first place at the 2012 Global Student Entrepreneur Awards in the graduate student category.

Hosted at the New York Stock Exchange, the annual competition handed prizes to successful student-run businesses. The Entrepreneur’s Organization — a network of more than 8,000 businesses in 40 countries — sponsored the global event, which was open to high school, undergraduate and graduate students.

“Winning this competition gives me confidence,” Moss says. “I know we’re making good business decisions to come out on top at this international event. It’s given me even more drive to move forward in an aggressive way.”

Facing off with other successful companies, React was given the top prize by a panel of judges comprised of representatives from the Kauffman Foundation, Cisco, The New York Times, NYSE Euronext, Upstart Business Journal and former GSEA champions.

Founded in 2008, React Games has released more than 30 games across several computer platforms and worked with several corporate giants, such as Disney, Hasbro and Intel.

“I have a lot of big hopes for React Games,” Moss says. “I think there is tremendous market opportunity. We want to do a better job than anyone else in the industry.”

Although Moss and his partners launched the company on their own, Moss knew a strong business foundation would be essential and decided to further his education at BYU in 2010.

“I started my company with a lot of passion and intuition,” Moss says. “The MBA program gave me a broader understanding of how to create market strategies, identify opportunities and best competitors.”
