The Organizational Leadership and Strategy department is best described as a large service unit to many students pursuing degrees within and without the Marriott School.

The department houses the faculty who teach graduate and undergraduate courses in strategy, management communication, and organizational behavior and human resources. In addition to Marriott School programs, various programs from outside the Marriott School require students to take these courses as part of their study. For example, more than 2000 BYU students completed Management Communications 320 and Organizational Behavior 320 last year.

The Marriott School's strategy faculty group represents one of the largest concentrations of strategy faculty in the nation, and it is building a national reputation in both research and teaching.

The Organizational Leadership and Strategy department also houses the Marriott School's nationally ranked Master of Organizational Behavior program, a professional degree dedicated to creating the compatibility between human values and organizational goals.

Emphasizing the applied behavioral sciences, this highly selective, two-year program prepares competent and ethical specialists who plan to take positions in the fields of organizational development, management training, and human resource management, as well as those wishing to pursue doctoral degrees. The program develops leadership competencies in three behavioral areas: organizational strategy, human resource management, and organizational development.
