Evaluating Social Entrepreneurship


Social entrepreneurship plans submitted to the Idea Competition and Business Plan Competition will be rated on the following 10 criteria:

  1. Feasibility of Business Model: Feasibility given the market opportunity and the venture.

  2. Social Return on the Investment: The venture's potential to meet
    social goals, and the venture's potential social impact.

  3. Financial Return on the Investment: The rigor and feasibility of the venture's financial models and goals.

  4. Fundability: The potential for the venture to receive financial support from additional investors/donors.

  5. Integration of Social and Financial Missions: The alignment of the venture's financial and social goals.

  6. Management Team: The strength, readiness, and capacity of the venture's management team, including its management's experience and expertise in relevant markets and industries.

  7. Scalability: The potential for growth or replication of the venture.

  8. Marketability: Evidence of demand for the venture in the marketplace.

  9. Performance Benchmarks: The development of systems to track, monitor, and access the performance milestones articulated in the business plan.

  10. Risk Assessment and Contingency Plans: The risk factors associated with the organization, enterprise, and external environment – and a plan for mitigating them.
