CESR Conversations: Bridges Out of Poverty

Description: Myla Dutton from Community Action Services (CAS) will talk about the experiences of her agency helping people out of temporary and generational poverty. She will discuss the principles of economic self-reliance outlined in the book Bridges Out of Poverty and how CAS is learning to work more effectively to help people out of generational poverty through understanding the differences between low, middle and upper economic classes.

Community Action Services is a non-profit organization located in Provo which serves the counties in Central and Southern Utah. They offer economic counseling and direct services such as assistance with rent, utilities, the food bank, etc. Myla Dutton has worked at Community Action Services since 1979 and has been the Executive Director for the last 16 years.
