Student Involvement

If you are interested in learning more about what the ESR Center does and how to participate, we encourage you to get involved in one of these ways.

Clubs

  • BYU hosts various clubs around campus that promote international development, corporate social responsibility, and economic self-reliance.

Classes

  • Directors and advisors involved with the Economic Self-Reliance Center hold classes each year that teach social entrepreneurship and other practices to promote economic self-reliance.

Economic Self-Reliance Conference

  • The ESR Conference is held every Fall Semester and is a valuable place for those involved with the ESR Center to share research and network with like-minded people who are looking to facilitate economic self-reliance throughout the world.

Internships and Grants

  • The Economic Self-Reliance Center has the resources to help students find the perfect internship or grant to assist in their studies. Past interns/researchers have focused on topics like microfinance, education, and healthcare.

Social Venture Competition

  • The ESR Center sponsors a social business plan competition called the Social Venture Competition. There is currently a $50,000 award for the top social venture ideas.
