Marriott On-Board

The Ballard Center has developed the Marriott On-Board program to give Marriott School graduate students hands-on experience with non-profit organizations. Graduate students selected after the interview process for this program are placed on the Board of Directors of a local non-profit organization for the academic year.

Marriott On-Board provides graduate students with the opportunities to:

  • Contribute to board discussions and network with board professionals
  • Serve as  a non-voting member on the Board of Directors
  • Learn how non-profit organizations are managed while gaining leadership skills
  • Utilize graduate coursework to create and present a project for their assigned organization
  • Earn class credit serving in the community

The Marriott On-Board mission is twofold: (1) provide Marriott School of Management students leadership experience and community service through placement as non-voting Board members (2) utilize student expertise to advance projects/analysis of non-profit organizations.

This class includes lecture sessions, organizational board meetings and project analysis. Marriott School graduate students interested in Marriott On-Board must apply one to two weeks prior to the start of each fall semester.
