Latin American IT Certification Providers Study
A mixed team of American and Latin American MBA students with
a background in information technology and consulting conducted research
on vendor and non-vendor based IT certification programs in Latin America,
particularly those sponsored by Microsoft, CompTia, and Cisco. The team identified possible partnering
opportunities matching IT certification needs of persons using the services
of targeted Latin American LDS Employment Resource Centers with the interests
of IT certification providers in growing Latin American markets. The project
explored ways in which IT certification training can heighten job placement
opportunities with large global firms in stable and career-oriented positions.
This involved an environmental scan investigating the current state
of the IT certification industry in Latin America and a feasibility study
that led to further work building alliances and partnerships between the
LDS church Employment Resource Centers, major multi-national corporations
that sponsor IT certification programs, and local IT certification training
providers that facilitate the training and employment process.
