Scholarships available to accounting students in the School of Accountancy (SOA) come from a wide variety of sources: some are awarded by Brigham Young University (BYU), some by the Marriott School of Management (MSM), and a limited number from the SOA. The amount and source of these scholarships vary according to the position of the applicant in the SOA programs.
The MAcc program is an integrated program where the senior year overlaps with the first year of graduate study. The University allows integrated students to continue to pay undergraduate tuition until the last two semesters when they become a graduate student and pay Marriott School graduate tuition. For the last two semesters (or one semester and two terms) of the MAcc program, students are graduate students (called a “paygrad”) and pay Marriott School graduate tuition. Students must be attending school full time for the two semesters they have graduate status. Students who obtain a BS in accounting before entering the MAcc program are graduate students and pay full graduate tuition throughout the MAcc program. Students who are graduate students qualify for the following scholarships:
A limited number of scholarships are awarded to international students, students from underrepresented backgrounds, single parents, and female students to encourage and make possible their participation in the programs of the Marriott School.
Two of the more notable scholarships offered through the MSM to students from different backgrounds are the following:
