Leaving Your Mark
4–6 March 2009
Provo, Utah
Welcome to the CIBER Short-Term Study Abroad (STSA) Conference 2009 web site. One of the fastest-growing
study abroad formats, short-term programs are appealing to students but present unique challenges in
curriculum, financing, and program management for administrators.
The purpose of this conference is to bring together faculty and staff who have dealt with these challenges
at a variety of schools, to share their experiences and disseminate STSA ideas and best practices.
Whether you are an experienced STSA practitioner or just contemplating the challenges of implementing
a short-term program, we hope you will find the agenda compelling. We are confident that, through the
formal presentations, panels, and informal interaction with experienced practitioners, you will leave
with a better understanding of your role in directing, guiding, and facilitating short-term study abroad programs.
The 2009 STSA Conference will be held at the Marriott hotel in beautiful downtown Provo, Utah, located
just minutes from Brigham Young University’s campus. Guests will be a short drive away from some
of best ski slopes in America and within walking distance of fun local cuisine. We look forward to the
opportunity to host you in Provo.
