William (Bill) W. Compton worked in the apparel industry from 1965-2002. He has started and sold a bank, built retail stores, operated a Baskin Robbins Franchise, and worked in apparel manufacturing in the United States as well as overseas. Bill Compton has built, operated, and sold storage units in addition to building, leasing and selling a strip shopping center. He has served as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Tropical Sportswear International (TSI) since November 1989. He also served as President of TSI from November 1989 to November 2002. Bill Compton has had over 37 years of experience in the apparel industry. Prior to joining TSI, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Munsingwear, Inc., an apparel manufacturer and marketer; President/Executive Vice President of Corporate Marketing for five apparel divisions of McGregor/Faberge Corporation; and a director of Farah, a men¬ís apparel manufacturer. Bill Compton has served on the Board of Directors of the Brigham Young University Marriott School of Management. He was the Chairman of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), the largest association for apparel and footwear in the world, for the years 2000-2001 and sat on their Board of Directors and Executive Committee from 1990-2002. He was associated with the AAFA for 14 years and was director for 6 years. He was voted a master Entrepreneur finalist of the year in Florida in 1996 and 2000.
