Biography:

Sister Lesa Jean Higley Stevenson was raised in Arroyo Grande, California and Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is the daughter of Gary and Bonita Higley. She is a graduate from Utah State University with a bachelor of science degree in home economics education. Following graduation, Sister Stevenson taught home economics education at the secondary school level before becoming a full-time mother and homemaker. While at USU, she met Gary Stevenson.  They were married in 1979 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They are the parents of four sons. They also have 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters.  Along with raising four sons, Sister Stevenson was involved in numerous civic and community affairs including past State of Utah co-president and board member of American Mothers, Inc., PTA President, and past committee member of the Governor's Coalition on Families. Sister Stevenson served as a missionary with her husband as he presided over the Japan Nagoya Mission (2004-2007), Asia North Area President (2008-2012) and Presiding Bishop (2012-2015). She currently supports Elder Stevenson in his calling to serve as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in October 2015. Her other Church service includes: Young Women president, counselor in Relief Society and Primary presidencies, Young Women advisor, teacher, den leader and primary chorister. She has found in her travels throughout the world that the many barriers of culture and language fade away with love and service. Serving others has brought her the greatest joy in life.
