Biography:

Kent Burton is Senior Vice President and Partner of National Environmental Strategies, Inc. He is a recognized policy expert on energy, natural resource and environmental issues at the Federal and State level, and has over 30 years of experience in Washington D.C. He has actively led major business development initiatives and project advocacy efforts in both domestic and international markets and has advised Fortune 500 corporations as well as major national trade associations and political campaigns.

Mr. Burton served in the Reagan Administration and George H.W. Bush Administrations as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere. During that time he represented the Department of Commerce on the Cabinet Council on Energy, Natural Resources and Environment and represented the Secretary on all environment and energy matters within the Administration.

Mr. Burton graduated cum laude from Utah State University, with a bachelor's in political science. He also holds a Master of Public Administration (with a concentration in business and public policy) from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Mr. Burton also serves as a member of Southern Virginia University’s National Advisory Council and has also served as a Board Member to Utah State’s College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

A native of Bountiful, Utah, Mr. Burton is married to Winnie May Skidmore of Logan, Utah. They are the parents of six children.
