Biography:

Steve grew up in Bakersfield, CA. On the day he received his mission call and assigned to Argentina, Buenos Aires South Mission, he had his first date with his amazing sweetheart and future wife, Donna. They were married 5 months after his return and moved to BYU where Steve worked hard to earn an accounting degree in 1980. They are the parents of two great kids, Michelle and Daniel, and grandparents of seven. Michelle and her husband Tom are State Dept diplomats and have resided in Albania, China, and Gabon. Daniel, his wife Kelsey, and two great kids live locally, and he practices law in SLC.

Steve worked in Public Accounting with several firms including what is now Ernst & Young and Grant Thornton. He joined the internal audit staff at BYU, became BYU’s Assistant Treasurer, and retired as the Director of Finance for BYU Broadcasting. It was a great ride working alongside great mentors, examples, and friends. Steve received his MPA in 1995. Steve recently accepted the Audit Director position with UCCU after serving as a volunteer on their audit committee for 25 years.

Steve officiated college softball (along with assigning umpires for multiple conferences) for more than 25 years, traveling to twelve states. He officiated the MWC tournament in 2001, which BYU won in its second season as an NCAA softball program.

Steve, a want-to-be cowboy, has a pure-bred cow and bull calf, enjoys playing grandpa, outdoor activities, golf, watching BYU sports, and international travel … to see grandkids!
