Scott Peterson earned his bachelor's degree in accounting and his MAcc from BYU in 1979. Upon graduation, Scott joined Ernst & Whinney, predecessor firm to Ernst & Young, in its national office in Cleveland. He then transferred to the EY San Francisco audit practice in 1980. In 1987 he left the firm to join the Financial Accounting Standards Board as a practice fellow for a two-year fellowship program, then returned to EY as partner in 1989. From 1995 to 2002 he worked as EY's Salt Lake City Office managing partner and then beginning in 2002 he transferred to the San Francisco Bay Area as the area managing partner over auditing and consulting. Scott retired from EY in 2011 and since that time has been serving on a variety of corporate boards, providing expert witness testimony, and consulting. Scott presently is the chairman of the Utah Capital Investment Corporation and serves on the board of Intellibed Corporation. He is the audit committee chair for the Church Education System and serves in other church assignments. Scott and Chris have four sons.
