What is Fixed Income?

Students in the finance major fixed income track receive specialized training focused on the topic of debt instruments. This training includes exposure to a range of debt securities from basic instruments such as Treasuries and simple corporate bonds, to more complex instruments, such as contingent convertibles and structured products. Much of this education explores the various uses of debt instruments, the processes used to create these instruments, the dynamics of the markets where they trade, the factors that influence their prices, and the metrics needed to analyze the risk of expected returns.

Finance graduates who complete courses in the fixed income track enjoy a broad range of job opportunities, including fixed-income trader, credit risk analyst at investment or large commercial banks, buy-side credit analyst at asset management firms, and many others.
