Utah Startup Marketplace Connects Students to Startups

More than 400 students attend career fair event

PROVO, Utah – Mar 26, 2015 – Energetic and optimistic best described the atmosphere at the annual Utah Startup Marketplace hosted by the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology. Utah Startup Marketplace connects students with growing startups while the students are on campus.

“This event was an exciting way to help build the Utah entrepreneurial ecosystem,” says Jeff Brown, CET assistant director. “Students can learn business skills really quickly while working for these companies as they undergo rapid change and growth.”

The startup environment attracts students with the opportunity to learn about business through a fast paced, hands-on experience. More than 400 students from all majors made their way to the event.

“I’m interested in startups and I’m looking for an opportunity to wear different hats in a company,” says Jake Homer, a strategy junior from Brandon, S.D., who attended the event. “The entrepreneurs here are very enthusiastic, sharp people. I love the energy they have.”

More than 20 startups, including FiberFix and Moki Mobility attended the event in hopes of finding top BYU talent.

“Being at places like this is a lot of fun,” says Kevin Wunder, Moki Mobility marketing director. “We can get to know a lot of people at one time.  If we can find those one or two that can grow with us, it’s great.”
