How is the curriculum structured?
The BYU Marriott Executive MBA program requires fifty-four credit hours of coursework. Students in the program’s challenging curriculum approach management through six core areas of study: accounting, finance, international business, marketing, operations, and organizational behavior. The program is designed to provide broad management training with a curriculum that supplements hands-on work experience and the opportunity to immediately apply and test management theories and newly acquired skills. The course schedule is structured to be accessible and relevant for working professionals and to help maintain a balance between work, school, and family commitments.
Please see the curriculum page for more information.
What type of work experience do I need?
The BYU Marriott EMBA seeks diversity of background and interest from a wide range of corporations, public institutions, and non-profit organizations, as well as professional fields, such as medicine and law. We look for seasoned professionals with a minimum of five years post-baccalaureate work experience. Admitted applicants have an average of twelve years of work experience. Part-time, summer work, or LDS mission experience is not considered when calculating qualifying work experience. We consider applications from a broad range of industry experience; no particular career path is required.
How important are test scores?
The GMAT and GRE are tools to predict potential academic success in the core classes of the MBA curriculum. Data has shown there is a strong correlation between a student’s test scores and his or her ability to succeed academically. If you think you may have trouble with the GMAT or GRE, we recommend you study one of the review texts available or enroll in a formal test preparation course. The highest score will be used for evaluation of admissions. Test scores are valid for five years. We require the GMAT or GRE score unless you have additional qualifications that would qualify you for a GMAT waiver.
