The Peery Film Festival will be held 17-19 October in the Wilkinson Center. The Changemaker Fair will be held on Wednesday from 6:00-8:30pm and Thursday from 6:00-7:30pm in the Terrace. Come view the fair and get free pizza!

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, starring Oprah Winfrey, documents breakthroughs that changed the face of medicine forever. This HBO drama is set in 1951 when cancerous cells were harvested without permission from Henrietta Lacks (later known as HeLa). HeLa cells were the first human cells to regenerate in a lab and have enabled doctors and scientists to conduct more expert medical research.

A gripping account of brave Christian and Muslim women joining together in peaceful demonstrations to end a decade long civil war in Liberia that had torn their country apart. Out of the wreckage, activist Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, rose up to become the first female president of an African nation.
