Today’s business executives cannot treat the global market as a luxury item; the global market is more crucial to business success than ever before. The Whitmore Global Management Center provides the global education and training necessary for BYU Marriott students to take on the global market.
The GMC is designated by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the nation’s seventeen Centers for International Business Education and Research. As a CIBER, the GMC works to increase and promote the nation’s capacity for international understanding and economic enterprise. Administered by the U.S. Department of Education under the Higher Education Act of 1965, the CIBER program links the manpower and information needs of U.S. business with the international education, language training, and research capacities of universities across the country.
Since 2002 the GMC has made strides in global business research, education, and outreach. The center works toward internationalizing BYU Marriott. This is accomplished by providing resources, training, and professional development for three inter-dependent groups: the students, faculty, and business community.
The GMC provides the following resources:
- Programs to internationalize domestic students
- Faculty development programs and exchanges
- Financial support for original research
- Innovative global business curriculum design
- Outreach to the business community
