Four Brigham Young University students walked away with distinguished internships after competing in the fourth annual MUSA Internship Competition. New to this year's competition is an internship fair and a series of workshops to help students seek employment and improve their professional skills.

Many students in the Marriott School of Management are busy juggling packed schedules filled with rigorous coursework and extracurriculars — but that doesn't stop them from setting the books aside to lend a helping hand. Here's a glance at service activities performed last semester by three student groups: the Marriott Undergraduate Student Association, Rotaract and Marriott On-Board.

It took a chorus of happy Whos to help Mr. Grinch find the true spirit of Christmas. At the Marriott School of Management, all it took was a festive tree and an invitation to give. In partnership with the United Way, the school's annual Angel Tree service project gave students, faculty and staff the opportunity to provide Christmas for needy children in Utah County.

Conan Albrecht, a professor of information systems at Brigham Young University, accepted the challenge to find a cure.

But this summer, hundreds of students at Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Management equipped themselves with skills to get ahead by interning for some of the biggest names in business.

Brigham Young University is ranked 71st in the 2010 edition of U.S.News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges," with the Marriott School of Management's undergraduate program ranked among the top 50 "Best Business Programs," coming in at 31st.

Brigham Young University information systems students reeled in eight awards this spring with their problem-solving strategies and technological expertise at the National Collegiate Conference for the Association for Information Technology Professionals in Oklahoma City.

More than 80 years ago, J. Willard Marriott opened a nine-stool root beer stand in Washington, DC. Today, Marriott is one of the world's best known brands and a company known for taking care of not just its customers but also its employees.

The Marriott School of Management honored Kevin D. Stocks with its highest faculty distinction, the Outstanding Faculty Award, at the annual Marriott School Awards Night on April 3. Along with Stocks, 15 other individuals were recognized at the banquet for their contributions to the school.

Two students and one faculty member were honored Thursday, April 2, at the 2009 Bateman Awards, the only school-wide award selected entirely by students.

Brigham Young University's undergraduate business programs rank fifth overall and first among recruiters according to BusinessWeek magazine's comprehensive ranking of U.S. undergraduate business programs.

After competing in a rigorous contest, six Marriott School of Management undergraduate students heard those magic words: "You're hired."

TechRepublic, a leading technology news organization owned by CBS Interactive, ranked Brigham Young University's undergraduate information systems program among the top ten in the nation.

A group of Marriott School students took top marks during a national information systems competition held by the Association of Information Technology Professionals in Memphis, Tenn. “This competition allows students to measure themselves against some of the best in the nation,” says Rayman Meservy, associate professor of information systems and one of the team’s advisers.

Brigham Young University Information systems assistant professor Paul Lowry and three of his former Ph.D. Prep students won the 2008 Rudolph J. Joenk, Jr. Award for best paper in IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, a scholarly journal published by the Professional Communication Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Brigham Young University Academic Vice President John Tanner announced the appointment of Gary C. Cornia as the new dean of the Marriott School of Management. Cornia, the Stewart Grow Professor of Public Management, has been serving as director of the school’s George Romney Institute of Public Management since 2004.

This summer eight undergraduate Marriott School students will intern with key industry companies after winning the school’s second annual Intern Competition — an event sponsored by the Marriott Undergraduate Student Association. “An internship is a great opportunity to learn the lingo of business and figure out if that is really what you like,” says Andy Emory, one of last year’s winners who interned with Sperry Van Ness Equities.

Brigham Young University’s undergraduate business programs rank seventh overall and first among recruiters according to BusinessWeek magazine’s comprehensive ranking of U.S. undergraduate business programs. The school was also ranked first in ethics and in return on tuition for private colleges. The magazine’s survey says students hail the Marriott School’s emphasis on producing successful and ethical business leaders.

The Wall Street Journal ranked Brigham Young University’s Master of Business Administration Program first in the nation among regional schools in the paper’s 2007 report of top business programs, up from third in 2006 and sixth in 2005. The Marriott School was also ranked No. 2 among the best schools for hiring graduates with strong ethical standards behind Dartmouth College.
