Marriott School students host exercise fundraiser

PROVO, Utah — Mar 09, 2004 — Marriott School students, faculty and administrators are challenged to race the stairs for the BYU Annual Fund. The event will take place in the Tanner Building on March 13 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Participants can run themselves or join a relay team. Individual runners are requested to give a $15 donation to the Annual Fund. Relay team members are asked to donate $10. Anyone can sponsor a runner for $5. All student contributions will be matched 5-1 by friends of the university and faculty, alumni and administrator donations will be matched 1-1.

Here’s the plan: Runners will climb the atrium stairs to the fourth floor move to the east stairwell and finish climbing to the seventh floor. They will then cross to the west stairwell and return to the first floor, creating a loop. Runners can choose to participate in seven or three lap races, either individually or in relay teams.

Prizes will be awarded for fastest times, highest number of sponsors, best costumes and best team theme. All participants receive a free t-shirt and refreshments.

“The Corporate Climb is a fun way to raise money for the school,” says James Clark, first year MBA student and committee co-chair. “You don’t need to be an athlete to participate. All you need is a desire to have tons of fun and to give back to the school.”
