Bingham Announced as OLS Chair

PROVO, Utah – May 16, 2017 – Marriott School of Management dean Lee Perry has announced John Bingham as the new chair of the organizational leadership and strategy department, effective 1 July.

“John brings to this role a deep understanding of his department and its faculty and an incredible ability to find common ground and move forward,” Perry says. “I’m sure I speak for everyone in the Marriott School when I welcome John to his new role and express our excitement about working with him.”

Bingham joined the Marriott School in 2005 and is a Donald L. Staheli Fellow. Prior to his new assignment, he taught organizational behavior and strategic human resource management courses to MBA and undergraduate students. Bingham also served as the BYU MBA program director from 2013 to 2016. Bingham has received numerous awards for his accomplishments, including the Ascendant Scholar Award from the Western Academy of Management and the Merrill J. Bateman Student Choice Faculty Award. Before coming to the Marriott School, Bingham cofounded two professional service ventures and worked in business development for a technology startup.

Bingham will follow Jeff Dyer, the Horace Beesley Professor of Strategy, who has served as OLS chair for the past nine years.

The Marriott School is located at Brigham Young University, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. The school has nationally recognized programs in accounting, business management, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems, and public management. The school’s mission is to prepare men and women of faith, character, and professional ability for positions of leadership throughout the world. Approximately 3,300 students are enrolled in the Marriott School’s graduate and undergraduate programs.
